Art figurine "Spiritual Pride"
"Spiritual Pride" is the first piece in the We the People of the World Collection. It reflects on the pride of North American First Nations elders and warriors, a trait that was all but shredded from their culture in the name of pacification and attempts to assimilate them. Their pride generated from a strong system of spiritual beliefs that guided everything in their lives. Taking their spirituality had the effect of a genocide on their culture; a sustained assault with over 3 centuries of pilfering their land, culture, spiritual beliefs, language, and everything that made them who there were as a people of the world. Today, we live with the outcome and share the pain and grief for the loss of these proud warriors.
